Onesies

>> Tuesday, April 19, 2011

We received a pack of white onesies at the shower for Carter and I wanted to try my hand at dying so here is the result:

I made red, yellow, orange and blue.  The red turned out pink after the first soak so they had to be dyed again.  After they were dyed I used heat transfer material and added Disney characters to each.  My favorite is the baby Pluto.

He is growing so fast that these onesies do not fit anymore.  Time to go to Michael's and get the next size.

Next project with the heat transfer material are shirts for Trent.  Trent liked the onesies so much that he would gather them all up and carry them around the house.  Off to look for images of Buzz.

Hopefully I will have a finished shirt to show you soon.

Sewing for Kids

>> Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Currently I am enrolled in a online sewing course conducted by Whipstitch.  It is a five week course and currently we are in week 4.  I have completed the skirt but unfortunately do not have anyone here to model it.

During week 2 we made pants and I made the size 3T for Trent.  They seemed a little tight when he tried them on and I realized I did not have the correct settings on the printer when I printed out the pattern.  Oh well they fit now, but there is barely any room for a diaper.

The hardest part was getting Trent to stand still so I could mark where to hem them.

This pattern is great because it is really easy to sew and I love the little detailing of the mock fly.  Trying to catch up with my class this week.  Wish me luck.

Dragon Slippers

>> Monday, April 11, 2011

Last month Made by Rae celebrated the boy with a month full of posts devoted to creating things for boys.  I now have a long to do list of projects I want to accomplish but I was able to cross one thing off my list: the dragon slippers.

Trent really loves the slippers and I really loved making them because they were so quick to finish.  To make the fleece less slippery on the bottom I wrote Trent using my hot glue gun.

Hello

>> Monday, April 4, 2011

Hi everyone! My name is Sarah.  I am a wife, mother to two sons, a practicing pharmacist and I love to sew and create.

I was in the middle of composing my first post when my 2 year old, otherwise known as little T turned the power off to my computer.  Oh the joys of motherhood.

For awhile now I have admired and been inspired by different crafting/sewing blogs and now I have decided to start one for myself.  I hope you enjoy my adventures in motherhood and creativity.
